The Riffelsee is a small mountain lake with no outlet at an altitude of 2770 m above sea level above Zermatt at the foot of the Riffelhorn. It lies slightly below the “Rotenboden” station of the Gornergratbahn. The east face of the Matterhorn is reflected in the Riffelsee. When there is no wind and the lake is free of ice, this is one of the most popular photo opportunities in Switzerland.
